DATES FOR SPRING 2019

Wood Carving - 13/4/19 - Wilderness Wood

with Martin Brockman

Martin will show you how to handle basic wood carving chisels and assess working in three dimensions.  There will be a selection of locally sourced timber, e.g. planked lime for relief carving and oak, sycamore or birch logs - which can be your starting point to create a unique carving of a bird.

A lovely decoration from the woods!

Suitable for adults and competent teenagers.

Woodblock Printing - 11/5/19 - Isfield Village Hall
with Adele Scantlebury

This one-day workshop is suitable for beginners, as well as those who are familiar with the techniques and just want to play for the day!
You will be introduced to a selection of materials - paper, ink, tools and blocks.  You will be shown how to carve and print from a block that you have designed, the aim being that you go home with at least  a couple of your own original prints.
Suitable for adults and competent teenagers.

Clay Tile Making - 15/6/19 - Wilderness Wood

with Martin Brockman & Adele Scantlebury

This workshop starts with decorating clay beads, these can go straight into the paper kiln which Martin will be firing throughout the day.

Pre-made tiles will be provided for decorating with clay slip and oxides, using brushes, sticks and stencils.  You can design and make simple encaustic tiles and even have a go at traditional tile making.

And last, but not least, we should be able to unpack the paper kiln to discover the treasures within!

Suitable for adults, competent teenagers and family groups.

Mosaic - 22/6/19 - Isfield Village Hall
with Hannah Griffiths
Local Mosaic Artist Hannah Griffiths will guide you through a small project suitable for a day long workshop, but also show you how to develop it further at home.
A range of materials will be provided, but students may wish to use their own collected tiles, broken crockery or treasured objects for particular personal projects.
Suitable for adults and competent teenagers.
